SWBAT demonstrate a wide range of strategies to determine central ideas or themes through various mediums by analyzing from sources with complex sentences.

SWBAT summarize the central idea or theme of a complex text through key points by citing evidence.

SWBAT construct an effective claim and distinguish it from a counterclaim while providing logically ordered and relevant reasons to support and refute viewpoints. Students will incorporate transitional words or phrases. Students will create an conclusion that summarizes the argument.

SWBAT complete short or more sustained research projects by gathering and synthesizing information from multiple print and digital sources, using advanced search terms effectively, while integrating new information and citing credible sources accurately.

SWBAT adapt my language choices based on purpose of task to include a variety of complex academic vocabulary using a variety of complex general academic and content-specific words and phrases. Use both informal and formal registers.

SWBAT retell a complex sequence of events or process by using an effective chronological structure which clarifies relationships among events and ideas.

SWBAT create and expand simple, compound and complex sentences to intentionally communicate in an active or passive voice.
