SWBAT retell the main topic and a few key details from simple readings or oral presentations using simple and compound sentences.

SWBAT participate in short conversational and written exchanges on familiar topics and text by responding to wh- and how questions.

SWBAT, with support and modeled sentences, will be able to deliver short oral presentations and/ or compose written narratives or informational texts about familiar topics, texts, experiences, events, and their own ideas using descriptive, comparative, and superlative adjectives.

SWBAT introduce and construct a claim about familiar topics, texts, or digital sources and include reasoning and a conclusion using sequence and opinion vocabulary and phrases. Students will include descriptive, comparative, and superlative adjectives.

SWBAT summarize data and information from print and digital sources using simple sentences with key nouns, adjectives, and verbs.

SWBAT, with emerging control, adapt language choices to task and audience while including frequent occurring general academic, content-specific word, object, and possessive pronouns.

SWBAT ultilze context, some visual aids, reference materials and knowledge of morphology in their native language to determine the meaning of frequently occuring words, phrases, and expressions in texts about familiar topics. Students will use simple and compound (and, both, or) sentences.

SWBAT retell a story or introduce a topic with one or two facts using modeled sentences and common transition words.

SWBAT use simple and complex sentences using nouns, verbs, conjunctions, prepositions, adjectives, and adverbs to show understanding of standard English.
